Does anyone have any successful stories of finding someone lovely in their late forties / early fifties? Or is it too late?

I was slightly earlier at 43 but I did meet the kind of man I have been wanting all my life. It’s the healthiest relationship I have ever had, he treats me with so much love and respect.
We met at work, ironically just before I was due to leave, so it really was lucky!
He isn’t exactly my usual type but I am glad I took a chance and went on a date with him.
Before we met I had pretty much given up on meeting anyone, my advice is no, it isn’t too late.

Plenty.
I met my partner when I was 42. He is absolutely amazing. Met online.
My mum met her boyfriend in her 50s. They've been together for 17 years now. He is wonderful and we all absolutely love him. Also met online.
My aunt reconnected with someone she knew as a child (friend of her cousin). She was in her mid 50s, they married after 6 months of dating.
This is just my immediate family and I have plenty more examples of friends and work colleagues in their 50s and 60s.

I met someone last year (early 50’s). 18 months in and he’s been nothing but kind, respectful and loving since. Met on Bumble (my 2nd date on there!)

I met my partner 5 years ago aged 46. He is 4 years older. I wasn't looking for a new relationship at all, neither was he - we just ended up dancing in a rare night out and I asked if he wanted my number. He's not my usual type either - I just liked how he danced. He's really opened up my world, my third long term relationship and my best in many ways.

Met my partner at 47, we're very happy 4 years on (I'm 51 now)

I met the love of my life when I was 50... He's 12 years younger than me.
Still together 6 years later

I met my partner when I was in my early 40s and I joined his band but we got together when I was 46. Been together 5 years.

Older than some on here. Had one short relationship at 51, one longer FWB at 52 - 57 and am rapidly falling properly in love now, as is he. He is a bit younger and the age gap bothered him at first, and may do again in the future however for now it is very good and we are happy.

We met in our late 40’s. I don’t think we was intentionally looking, and initially just got on well but from our individual perspectives we both just felt drawn together and the rest is history and both super happy 😊

GoodGirlFaith · 23/09/2026 10:54

Of course it isn't! I met my partner of 6 years when we were both 48/9. We both turn 55 this year.

I had been married previously for 25 years. Partner and I are currently buying my exH's share of the house and plan to marry.

My grandmother had a boyfriend after my grandfather died aged 65. I don't think it's ever too late.

Met my fiancé online when I was mid forties and he was 39. Been together fourteen years now.

Yes and no. Met someone I really connect with but just some inbalance in the relationship.

The issue I find is that it's so hard unless you compromise on a number of things, if you are not careful its easy to reduce the available pool to very few.

In your 20s its physical attraction and personality, then big lifestyle views like kids/no kids.

In your 40s/50s you have the attraction and personality plus career, being a single parent, twat of an ex, are their kids similar ages, do I like the kids, does lifestyle fit (when they have kids, other hobbies), financial equity (or close), retirement plans, health etc...
