Mum clearly thinks DH is too good for me

Does anyone else have this? Been married for 32 years and everytime I’m with my mum she tells me how wonderful my husband is and keeps referring to him as “poor” DH. As though he has to put up with me and should be pitied. I don’t get it and it makes me feel like shit. I have mentioned it to her so many times but it does not stop.

I can relate! Does yours Mum have any Sons of her own?

My father said that I was punching well above my weight the first time he met my husband (we've been married nearly 40 years). He's always been unpleasant to me but thinks my husband is god-like... I just ignore it and you should too. Your husband chose you and you have been married 32 years - your mum is cruel, like my father. It's shit but it's their problem not ours!

I get a little of this from my MIL. It's definitely on the acceptable side though, I think she was worried he wasn't going to move out!

My mum thinks the sun shines out of my DHs arse! To be fair, I think he's pretty lovely too and we've been married 36 years, but it's still irritating that she thinks he can do no wrong 😂 she doesn't call him poor DH though, that's bloody rude! Have you asked her why she always calls him poor DH?

I'd be looking her straight in the eye and saying you're right mum. His gene pool and upbringing are of vastly superior quality to mine. Then walk out.

My mum was a traditional housewife. She did all the domestic stuff and waited on my dad.

I’m the complete opposite. I don’t cook and my husband loves to do everything for me. My parents adored him. My mum thought I was useless (fair point) and frequently told me I was just a show pony 😂 We used to laugh about it. She couldn’t relate, but begrudgingly admitted I’d got it right and she’d got it wrong.
