Am I alone in feeling like this? Because honestly, I feel completely lost at the minute.
9 years married, 11 years together and 2 children, but lately I feel more like a nanny, cook, cleaner and taxi driver than a wife.
My husband works 6 days a week, every weekend, gets home around 7:30pm and is away for work every other weekend. I know he works hard, and I appreciate that.
But I work 3 days a week too. And my other days aren’t days off.
I’m doing school runs, clubs, appointments, cooking, cleaning, organising everything and making sure everyone has what they need. Every night I get everything ready for the next day so nobody has to stress in the morning.
I do it because I’m trying to keep our family running smoothly.
But apparently I’m “controlling”.
And now he wants to add even more clubs for the kids. More clubs that, realistically, I’ll be the one taking them to.
Then divorce gets mentioned, saying he could never have the kids at weekends because of work, which means I’d have them anyway. He did apologise, but you don’t just forget hearing something like that.
Then he made comments about me being “autistic” because of the way I do things. The way it was said felt like a dig, and honestly it really hurt.
Maybe I like things organised. Maybe I overthink. But maybe that’s because I’m the one constantly having to think about everything.
I’m just tired.
Not just physically — mentally. My head never switches off.
I love my husband and I love my children, but I feel like I’ve completely lost myself.
I don’t want another club added to the calendar.
I don’t want another responsibility.
I don’t want another argument.
I just want to feel like I have a partner.
Someone who notices I’m struggling and says, “Don’t worry, I’ve got it.”
So am I alone in feeling like this?
Because right now I feel completely overwhelmed and like I’m carrying far more than people realise.
