Weird little quirkily-romantic gestures

It’s our wedding anniversary today and I’m in a nice hot bath while DH cooks dinner.

He just came into the room with a forkful of warm melted garlic-laden cheese from the bottom of a pan he’s using to cook an element of the meal and told me to open my mouth.

Frankly, if that’s not love, what the hell is?

What’s the most quirkily-romantic thing your partner does/has done that reminds you marriage is just as much about the little things as the big stuff?

I also want to add that he’s not just cooking this evening because it’s our anniversary. He does it most evenings when it’s just the two of us… I’m the glory hunter who only cooks when we have guests 😂

When Dh and I were dating, we had all sorts of weird cute names for each other. We were long distance for several years, opposite sides of the world, so a lot of our relationship was over email and Google chat. This was before the days when Skype existed even and there was no FaceTime or anyway to talk except like email and very expensive calls (that we couldn’t afford). So we wrote each other long emails addressed to ‘my little mushroom’ and ‘my dearest cockle’. 😂 It was weird but just became an endearing thing we did.

And then in order to apply for my fiancé visa to move to the UK, I had to present evidence of communication between us for the length of our relationship to the Home Office to demonstrate that we were a legitimate relationship and not planning a sham marriage. 🤣 I’m sure they’ve seen weirder, but someone in the Home Office must have been humoured reading those.

DP will often buy me nice bubbles and run me a bath, it’s not necessarily a romantic gesture, he uses it as an opportunity to play uninterrupted XBox!

He does do some very sweet things just for me though. We started playing Pokémon Go on our evening walk and because I really wanted a Pikachu he dedicated his work breaks to find me one. He makes my favourite soup whenever I’m feeling down and my absolute favourite is when he silently slides a hot drink onto the corner of my desk when I wfh

I’ve also just remembered that my DH will regularly make me a ‘bath snack’ (it’s starting to sound as though all I do is sit in the bath and eat 😂).

The snacks are often a bit weird but always tasty such as a little bowl of grapes and some crumbled feta.
