Not really sure what I’m hoping for with this post but I have no one to talk to. Me and my partner have a 2 year old son. We have been in couples therapy for about 8 weeks. We do not usually argue infront of our son but this morning we have and this resulted in my son screaming and then hiding in the toilet. I feel like an absolutely dreadful parent and am I now upstairs crying on my own. I don’t want this environment for him but I feel trapped.

Why do you feel you can’t leave?

Do you not own the house? You need to secure your own home and financial independence.

Do you want to leave, or are you hopeful the therapy will help you both solve the problems in the relationship? Has it deteriorated recently or has it always been difficult? (If it's stemmed from recent additional stress, advice would be different to if it's an emotionally abusive relationship and always has been!)

What sort of things are you arguing about? Are you able to have civil conversations, so you can talk about and agree on what you'll do if it starts getting heated around DC again?
