Your thoughts on this would be appreciated .
I am a bit of a fainter when I'm ill , especially after going to the loo and being on the toilet . I realise it's because of a sudden drop in bp / standing up etc .
Around 4am woke up and felt I was about to have an upset stomach . So for immediately up went to the loo , was feeling faint whilst on the loo .

Got up was staggering about , knew I was about to faint so laid on bathroom floor , poss semi fainted . Was laying there half fainting , feeling awful , hoping it to pass .
Husband woke up and from bed asked if I was ok , I told him I was on bathroom floor as was as faint so was on the bathroom floor .
He stayed in bed and went back to fucking sleep !

After about 15 minutes got my self back to bed to recover. , I'm fine this morning so not worried about that but feel upset that he did not get up to help .

I asked him this morning and he says he thought I was ok , he is oblivious to my hurt feelings .

He should be ashamed of himself. He has really shown you how much he cares about you and your wellbeing.
Edited to add that sounds incredibly worrying for you OP. I hope you are ok.this morning.

My feelings are that I'd be livid if that happened to me. Does he usually show this lack of concern? How often do you faint?

Happytaytos · 13/09/2026 08:34

Did he sort of stir and ask but not really get the reply? I've done this sometimes and my husband hasn't been happy in the morning but I wasn't really awake.

Not very often ( lived here about 15 years and only fainted here about 5/6 times but mostly at night on the loo ! )

I know I would get up for someone during the night if they were ill .

But if you didn't know they were actually ill?

I'm not defending him but it's a possibility he asked in his sleep.

Unless he's generally a twat, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and talk to him.

SnappyOpalJoker · 13/09/2026 09:22

When he asked if you were OK why didnt you say “I need you in here to help me” and make it clearer. As PPs said he was probably deeply drowsy. But horrible not to feel cared for I agree.

Fyr · 13/09/2026 09:26

What did you want or expect him to do?

Were you in danger?

You needed to wait till you felt able to move.

Thanks for all your thoughts / and opinions .

This is a vasovagal syncope, I get it too and finally have a name for what happens!! The cause for me is dehydration. The last time it happened to me my partner couldn’t fuss around me enough, making sure I was okay, wondering if I needed an ambulance / whether to drive me to A&E, getting me back into bed, cup of tea etc, periodically coming to check on me. I’d be really disappointed in your husband too.

Your bf is a keeper .
I'd read that as well in regard to putting a name to it . Thank you .

Oh op that's ewful of him,
Why do you cope with his lack of support op,
He doesn't care op, 💐

Loubelou71 · 13/09/2026 11:29

I wonder if he thought because you hadn't fainted and seemed to be in control of the situation he thought you were ok. If it's not an unheard of thing for you perhaps he wasn't concerned. I appreciate it feels uncaring of him though.

What would you want or expect your partner to do if you were on the floor feeling faint and perhaps not able to communicate as well as normal?

nomoreraintoday · 13/09/2026 11:32

Do you like to be fussed around when you’re ill, and if so does he know that? I prefer to be left alone when I’m unwell so unless I specifically asked for something my DH would likely leave me to it.

He's not the sort to fuss , so I dont ask to be .

I'm a bit incredulous that there are people out there what would leave a family member laid out in the bathroom floor at the point of fainting / ed , and then turn over in bed and continue to sleep without getting up to check up on them .

I'm not just talking about me , but if your partner or adult child was ill enough not to be able to walk back to bed or at risk of falling over if they attempted to , then lots of people would be happy to leave them to it ?

It's a sad world if it is .

Obviously I would say he should have got up and helped you but I do wonder if he was half asleep and just dropped off again inadvertently? My DH is pretty hard to wake from a deep sleep and will often fall asleep while still holding his cup of tea for example. If you wanted help, you probably should have called out to him to come and help you. Maybe it's a discussion you can have so he knows in future!

Happytaytos · 13/09/2026 13:49

You're ignoring the people saying he could have been pretty much asleep.

Have you spoken to him yet?

Am pretty sure I have half woken up, said something and gone back to sleep without hearing/registering the response, especially if he heard you say you were ok or didnt need help

Yes we've spoken a few times about it . He didn't go straight to sleep and I believe in hindsight he understands ( for our relationship ) it was not his greatest moment , as he knows I do a lot for him medically and in other ways .

As I've said before I appreciate everyone comments but it's time to put it behind me as I'm ok now and not going to dwell of it so will be taking myself off this thread , thanks again .

Why did you post then?

moderate · 13/09/2026 16:25

What a pointless thread, then.

I faint or near-faint semi-regularly (orthostatic hypotension, which sounds closer to your symptoms than vasovagal syncope) and there's no point in my partner doing anything, I just need time to recover.

BoarBrush · 13/09/2026 18:32

I have Pots, faint far too often when going to the toilet especially during the night. The difference being my husband has my back 24/7, even at my usual 3am pee he'll have me swiveled around with my feet up on the bath before I even know what the heck happened.

TonyDancer · 13/09/2026 18:50

I get this OP. vasovagic shock. I think if I was laying on the landing dh would put a blanket over me.
