He wants nothing to do with his daughter, life tried messaging him, sending videos, sending pics of her and nothing. I’ve rang off his phone, she’s 1 years old. When she was born he was slightly interested then but I didn’t let him see her as she was incredibly poorly and he wanted everything on his terms, I told him to stop the arguing etc, we do it through court he said nah. We stopped communicating for like 4-6 months. I think. So I’ve decided on a random day, I will be an adult about this and just let him see her however he will not reply to anything regarding her.
im sad for her but it’s also my ego that’s abit wounded

There’s nothing you can do unfortunately. I think no contact is better than how some dads treat their kids on here.

If he has opted out this may well be a good thing. Take the opportunity to move and live wherever you want to whilst he’s not bothered. However, as soon as kids start talking that appeals to most men’s egos and suddenly they want the visits again and all on their own terms.

My baby girl has a rare form of cancer & I just wanted her to meet him atleast once before the inevitable happens

Unfortunately he hasn’t wanted to be there for her (or you) even when things are ‘easy’, let alone at this awful time. I imagine one day he will kick himself for not being involved in his child’s life but that’s just a pain he will have to bear.
You can’t waste time and emotional energy on a man who doesn’t care, when you need all your strength for your child. He won’t swoop in like Prince Charming to save the day, he will be unreliable and just another thing for you to try and manage.
Don't waste a second on him, just strengthen your special bubble with your baby and get support from those who really love you both. I hope you have some good people to rely on 💐

Spend all your time and energy on your daughter.
Time is precious.

Anuder · 07/09/2026 07:52

Why is your ego wounded? It is unfair on the child absolutely but he has made it clear he wants nothing to do with her so sadly you will just have to carry on as if he does not exist. Do not keep contacting him, regain your self respect and just raise your daughter to be a happy kid. Not all kids need two parents if they have one good one.

Have you seen OP's update?

I'm so sorry your little one is so poorly 😔 I would concentrate your time and energy on her and not on trying to contact him. Have you got family and friends supporting you?

TheProvincialLady · 07/09/2026 09:16

Your daughter won’t be aware that she has ‘missed out’ on seeing this utter scum, whereas he has to live with the knowledge that he behaved as he did. Don’t let this take up any more of your headspace - your daughter has a loving mum and that’s honestly all she needs. Don’t contact him again. I’m so sorry your daughter is so unwell, that’s so unfair.
