Couples therapists – where to begin?

DH and I are looking to start couples therapy. We have been on the rocks for a few years now and I think it’s time to find outside help. I’m a little overwhelmed by the various booking platforms and then the long list of practitioners on each one. I liked the look of Relate, but the sessions would be quite expensive (about £120). Can anyone recommend a booking platform or provide tips for finding the right therapist? I have done individual therapy for myself and know that it can be so hard to find a good fit.

We are hoping to do online sessions.

There’s the Counselling Directory. It’s not a booking platform but it holds details of local counsellors. Usually relations / couples counsellors have relate training anyway but without the hefty price tag.

BACP is a good platform. But regardless of the platform, I'd strongly recommend finding a therapist together, who you both agree on. Good luck

Thanks for your messages! I’ll have a look at both websites

I’d look for someone who specifically works with couples and has an approach that suits you both, rather than choosing purely from reviews. It might also be worth asking about a short initial consultation to see if you click with them. For online sessions, TheraChange is another option you could have a look at, as they offer online therapy and consultations.
