How do you make friends as an adult, without loads of spare time to join groups, has anyone had any luck with bumble BFF, or any other similar apps? I tried in the past to make friends using these apps but found it very hard and forced but willing to give it another try, has anyone made friends using them

I made a similar post here the other day and I had no joy so I deleted it 😅

I'm in my late 20's (27) and I have real trouble making friends. Every friendship I've ever had has fallen by the wayside for one reason or another and I'm really not sure how/where to go to rectify this problem- I'm unsure if you're situation is similar to mine or not, but just know you're not alone if it is! 💗

I've used Bumble BFF on a few separate occasions, but in all honesty, have never had much luck. You're absolutely right that a lot of the conversations (if it makes it that far!) do feel a bit awkward and forced. In my personal experience, these apps aren't being used by most people in a genuine way, they just have the app for the validation of "likes" or "matches" or follows on their Instagram but no real interest in pursuing a friendship outside of that

Oh really?! Wasn’t expecting that but sadly not surprising! Im a decade older so wonder if that’s more of a younger thing?

Potentially, yeah, it could definitely just be a younger person thing honestly 🤪

I find it hard using the apps too. I much prefer to meet people in person but that can be awkward too. Just turned 40 and I could do with some new friends. Wish mumsnet would bring back the local chats. I think people used to make friends on those, from what I've read.

Ive not had much luck in person, everyone said I’d make loads of friends when my children started school but never happened. They are getting older now so not really able to make friends through them anymore so thought I’d give the apps another try and thought I’d see what other people’s experiences of them as it was a good 10 years ago I last tried them

Just found one called girlfriend social. Have you tried that one?

Join meetup. I met loads of mates on there. You just have to persevere a bit though.

Did you feel a bit out of place in a big group? Are you confident? I'm not sure I'd do well at a meetup.

It's normal to feel a bit shy at first when you don't know anyone, but the point of them is to meet people and people do chat to you! You also have to make an effort yourself. I am a meetup host and will introduce people to each other and round up any lonely stragglers and I hope that other hosts do similar. I go to lots of groups where I don't know anyone now.. you get used to it.

I think it’s a state of the times thing. I was out constantly pre-covid now I have maybe 3 friends I speak to regularly? I actually feel things are changing because I’ve noticed some people reaching out more wanting to go out again. You might find it’s just the way of the world and things will gradually change. I think people have become quite lonely and will be more up for being sociable. Well I hope so!
