Bereavement, grieving and unsupportive husband

I’ve not been coping the past week and I’ve had so much going on, a family member died on my side of the family and it’s has caused me some difficulties with depression as it’s been a shock as he died suddenly!

I’ve also not been getting on with my husband, this has been since not long after I lost my family member last week as I’ve just not been in a good place so I’ve been a nightmare to live with.. Its got to the to the point we are thinking of separating, as we don’t seem to be able to resolve our differences but I’m up for trying marriage counselling.. so currently its like an unofficial separation as we are still living together.

He is going out with a friend tonight and I’m dreading being alone with my thoughts.. I’m usually such a bubbly person and encourage socialising but things for me at the moment just aren’t good and I’m in a bad place mentally.

Spoke to a friend today about how I’m feeling and she agreed I needed some support, long term possibly doc/therapy but short term she said I need support from hubby, she said be honest with your hubby, tell him your struggling and ask him for some support, ask him to stay with you tonight if that’s what you need so i followed her advice and did just that..

His response was “you’re not ruining my night out” he was out last night at a family members house, now he is out again tonight and Tuesday he is going out again.

His response hurt and i burst in to tears, not in front of him but in private.

I agree I don’t want to ruin his night but I have needed him lately and he hasn’t been there.

Hubby can’t be affected by the death, as he barely knew the family member. Could understand if he was grieving himself, at least that would be some sort of explanation..

It sounds strange that you only say you've had problems with your husband for less than a week. Because a couple wouldn't go from getting along to experiencing one rough week that is leading to a separation and possible divorce.

What behavior do you mean by nightmarish from yourself?

He sounds like a cold jerk, and this many nights out in a week, even if you weren't grieving, makes it sound suspicious like he's not just hanging with relatives and friends.

Are you just used to him regularly being a jerk so that you've been normalizing other bad behavior by him over the years?
