Lardy husband giving me the ick

I saw my husband with his shirt off, wearing trousers in the kitchen while steaming his shirt for work and he looked so terrible that it gave me the ick. And later he drove me to a medical appointment where he'd planned to stick around but I couldn't bear to have him near me. Partly I was stressed about the medical appointment but I couldn't get the vision of him large and lardy out of my head.

I’m sorry but anyone commenting “you love the person not their body” is delusional. You love the whole person, including their body. People get old, put a bit of weight on or lose it but someone getting overweight and making no effort to stay fit can be extremely offputting. OP may have come across poorly with her phrasing but she certainly doesn’t need therapy because of this.

It’s ok to feel put off by seeing someone looking excessively unhealthy. We are programmed to like seeing healthy people, it’s natural. Very lardy should be shocking - it is unhealthy and dangerous. But you can’t let him know untactfully that you feel this way, that would be unkind. Could you encourage him to get healthier, perhaps consider weightloss medication. It is difficult to balance being nice about it with also being realistic about the consequences of being ‘lardy’.

I think all the Pearl clutching and finger wagging over Language that has by some been deemed by some as scandalous , has driven our op away.
