I have a best friend of over 20 years and she frequently asks me to help her out with things like dumping stuff up the tip, picking up furniture etc. Probably because I have a small van. These excursions usually take up most of my day.
I have been happy to do this for petrol money and a nominal sum. I have also run her around when she had no transport and lent her money. She has helped me out once when I was incapacitated.
A few months ago, she asked me again to borrow my van but I had to refuse because I was too busy.
Unfortunately, my DP was recently seriously ill in hospital leaving me stressed out and running our business alone. She has now asked again if I am free to do some errands for her and I have refused. I explained that I have been through a difficult time and am genuinely knackered and short of time: I am getting ready for a trade show.
AIBU to expect a reply to my text? She has neither texted or phoned to ask how I am or what has happened to DP. I am disappointed because I thought she would at least show some concern but now I'm wondering if she's sulking because I don't want to help her again.
