App recommendations for organising a busy family with primary school children

Hello everyone,

I have searched the posts and can see some old references to apps like Family Wall and Google calendars but I was wondering does anybody use any app that helps organise their family?

I am after something that can help organise us a bit better along with keeping it fair. We lead fairly busy lives so something that keep us all in check would be great

We also have 2 primary school children.

I don't mind paying a small fee if its helpful as well

We have a shared calendar that everyone pops their stuff on. We all have apple devices and so use the integrated Apple Calendar which works well. That way everyone can see at a glance what is going on, and it pops up on my lockscreen if there is an event listed today.

Old school here - we have a paper calendar on the wall in the kitchen.

Do you just copy stuff in from school emails etc?

Yes, DH and I both have the rule that as soon as we read a school date in an email, for example, we pop it onto the calendar. But I also go through the school calendar at the start of each year and put things like half term, inset days etc into the calendar so I'm sorted for them without thinking, and then it just ends up things like home clothes day needing to go on.

We use family wall, it's really good (and we just have the free version).

Does your school offer the option to link to the calendar? Ours does, and it updates automatically, often it’s a bit more info than you need as not everything concerns your kids, but stops the risk of missing anything.

I've posted this on another thread but I've found the Equal House app is really good.

They charge a small subscription fee but they have so many good features. You can just scan school emails and it adds them to your calendar. I think they also pull the calendar updates from the school feeds as well.

What we like the most is it aims to try and equalise your family out so everyone is pulling their weight.

Organises everything; meals, chores, shared calendar, to-do's, shopping etc.
For schooling, it imports all term dates automatically into your calendar and you can also forward school emails to it etc.
It also uses AI and has a Whatsapp AI bot that you can message for basically everything, rather than using the app itself.
And it has a free version.
