Am I overinterpreting a coworker’s behaviour after returning from leave?

Hi everyone!!
I need your help understanding something that happened to me earlier.
I took a vacation for a while, and when I came back to work, I noticed some unusual behavior from one of my female coworkers.
At first, she seemed to secretly scan the office to check whether I was there. Later, when I joined lunch with all my coworkers, she seemed nervous when she saw me. She gave me a warm smile and raised her eyebrows.
Once I joined the table, she seemed nervous and struggled to eat. Her friends even seemed to notice it, and when someone asked her what was happening, she gave him a big smile.
Then, she started playing with her phone while looking at me when I was talking. Her feet were pointed toward me, and she leaned her head toward me as much as possible.
When I was talking to her, she looked at my eyes and sometimes at my lips while I was speaking.
After I finished eating and went back to my desk, I caught her secretly looking at me again.
I need your help understanding what might be going on with her regarding me. Do these behaviors mean anything, or could I simply be interpreting them incorrectly ?

Just ask her out

I think you may have caught too much sun on holiday and your brain is fried, 😉

DollopOfFun · 15/08/2026 13:24

You repulse her but she's trying to disguise it.

CheeseWisely · 15/08/2026 13:30

Do you mean coworkers or classmates? Because ‘OMG her feet were pointing towards me’ is giving 14 year old desperately trying to create clues that their crush likes them.

BillieWiper · 15/08/2026 13:35

I don't understand? You're obviously staring at her in just as intense a fashion as she is you, if you've noticed all this minute detail about the way she looks at you.

Her feet were pointing at you?! Erm everyone's feet are pointing at someone if they're sitting opposite them. Unless they're performing a pliee or some other balletic dance move. Or are suffering from club foot. Why were you staring at the position of her feet?!

You sound a bit bizarre.

There's something tumultuous going on inside of her. Ask her if she has any scissors and if you can borrow them as you are intending to spend some time soon scissoring... say it in a knowing way... and look her in the eye and smile.

Check her feet to see if she is wearing Birkenstocks.

Yes good advice.
Also, raise your eyebrows at her so she can see yoir eyes sparkle as you say: Ive been thinking of getting a mullet, what do you think?

mashpatooties · 15/08/2026 14:19

Are you trying to say that her body language is giving "she wants to shag me" vibes? Because it's a bit of a stretch. If you want to bang her and she's gay, ask her out. If not, get a hobby.

Ukholidaysaregreat · 15/08/2026 14:21

Hahahahaha!

mtobrokeme · 15/08/2026 14:22

Oh god I’m glad I met my husband at a time when you just asked them out for a drink if you fancied em and didn’t have to analyse every eye movement or pretend it mattered in what direction their feet were facing.

I do that with people who mumble.

Articulate clearly please 😂

Op you`re reading too many mills and boon books.

Too much American Pie by the sound of it.

OP, how did you notice her scanning the room if she did it 'secretly'?

Random321 · 15/08/2026 14:51

This is a serious case of overanalysis!

I wouldn't even notice if someone wasscsnning a room for me - if if I noticed the scanning I wouldn't automatically assume ot was for me!

TheKindnessProject · 15/08/2026 14:55

Coworker? As in, you're at work? Then you focus on work unless you're desperate for a chat with HR, would be my advice. Keeping sex and work separate has served me very well.

Snuggleup · 15/08/2026 14:59

You`re user name says it all really.

Lmnop22 · 15/08/2026 16:29

Is this a reverse and you’re actually doing all these things to try and get her to notice you? Because it sounds like you’re obsessed with her and are constantly watching her!
