What is the problem? Why does your son want to be with his father and not you?

You need to give the full picture

OMGDidYouSayThat · 05/08/2026 21:32

All the basics of separation really, not sure what advice you are looking for?

I did end it yes I have been unhappy for years, and now I’m scared of what’s next regarding loosing my home and my child.

Don't move out. That would be my advice. See a solicitor asap, and don't agree to anything out of guilt.

Take it one day at a time and do the next right thing which currently is getting yourself some good legal advice.

I won't lose my home. He won't look for that. He's been very very unhappy for a long time. I didn't realise how unhappy. We have had problems, big ones but I honestly thought we'd figure them out. Im not doing very well. Definitely not okay. A lot of emotions. Our kids dont know yet and not sure what we are going to tell them. They are 13 and 10. What age are yours?

Shuchins · 06/08/2026 09:22

Thank you I’m waiting to hear back from my solicitor, I feel him and my son just hate me and almost ganging up on me caus I have done all this.

OP what were the big problems that caused you to make this decision? And why were you so deeply unhappy? Does your son know your reasons or just his father's version?

Just started a divorce process too.
I paid to see a solicitor and honestly don't think I got value for money.
DH saw a solicitor for free and was told much the same as I was.
We verbally agreed to split everything equally but actually getting that written down is taking time as we are not talking much.
