I have four kids and have just told my partner (who I love) that he has to move out.

I don’t know where he’s going to go as we have no money.

he is struggling with his mental health but I have to put my kids first.

social media is full of happy families going on incredible holidays and I need to delete it.

please tell me this will all be ok 😭

You sound like a strong woman putting your children first. Well done and Good luck.

Thank you @OakleyAnnie , you don’t know how much that means 💐

Nobody is putting their shitty days on social media, so if that's causing you distress then yes, absolutely delete it.

Action overcomes fear, what are the practical aspects of this that you need to address in order to set you and your DC up with the best chance of thriving now?

Edited to add, no woman with young children asks a man to leave unless he's seriously overstepped boundaries and is making their lives markedly worse than it would be if he wasn't around. It's been bad, you want it to get better and it can, you've done the hard bit.

@nc42day I don’t know. I feel blindsided.

i guess i need to go on the entitled to website and see if there’s any help for me as I work full time but can no way pay all the bills on my own.

I'd make a list, get a pen and paper right now and write down everything that you're worried about in this moment.

Make a second list and write down all your outgoings by looking at your bank account.

Get on the entitled to website and find out where you stand.

That will do for today. Eat as well as possible, stay hydrated, and get an early night.

I'm sorry but this comment did make me laugh. I think you will be fine. Look into what you're entitled to, anything you can cut back on and take it a day at a time. Well done for putting your kids first, you sound strong. Has he ageeed to leave?

PlayingDevilsAdvocateisinteresting · 03/08/2026 10:12

Oh @Zippidydoodah, I am so sorry that you are going through such a heartbreaking time, but with the best will in the world, I don't think any of us here can give you any help, advise or support, without knowing at least a broad overview of the whys and wherefores of your decision. You and your partners ages may also have a limited bearing on this, but knowing the ages of your four children really is pertinent.

So if you can please give us more information, particularly why - as you say you still love him - you have felt it necessary to take such a monumental step. However, if you know that you have no choice but to follow through with this, then whatever the outcome turns out to be, just try to remember that in effect, you had no choice 💐

Well done for putting your children first. Is he the dad to any of them?

Jk987 · 03/08/2026 10:36

What a question, I’m sure he is the Dad!
OP - you’ve got the roof over your head. Definitely go to entitledto. Research local charities and churches and food banks who will help with some provisions. Which friends or relatives can you lean on for some support and to watch the kids while you sort out the practical stuff? You deserve some emotional support from someone in real life.

Who knows, OP put my kids rather than our kids or the kids.

If he’s not the father, it’ll be a lot easier for her and the children to move on.

Delete instagram and facebook (or tiktok or whatever) and go and make a cup of tea. One step at a time!

Zippidydoodah · 03/08/2026 11:02

I’m sorry, yes he is their dad.
