I'd be grateful for views on my home situation. Single parent, DC aged 19.
Teen earns about £2k take home, works hard at work, does overtime sometimes and earns a bit more some months. Saves well. I earn about £4500 a month net, full time very stressful role, I no longer love what I do but carry on as I like my lifestyle and if I keep going at my current pace I will be able to retire early (thought of retiring early keeps me going). Teen pays £250 a month to live at home. I buy everything at home, all food, all toiletries (I buy in bulk), etc., etc.. Money is not my issue here, just setting the scene.
I am absolutely sick of having to ask teen to do anything at all. Cleaning the kitchen after I have cooked, emptying the dishwasher, putting a loo roll in the bathroom they mostly use when it runs out (I might go in there three times a week), doing their own laundry which becomes mountainous, emptying it out of the washing machine and actually being bothered to hang it up rather than sticking it in the bloody dryer in a heatwave.
They work hard, generally a good kid, always have the energy to see friends on a day off but spend the day in bed or do absolutely nothing if they have not got plans.
I seem to have the same conversation every month without any effect at all.
