Trigger warning - partner suicide

ForBreezyRoseLeader · 30/07/2026 20:21

I previously wrote a post about how my partner had been arrested for a serious offence on Friday and then went missing upon release and took his own life in the early hours of Sunday.

The moderators removed the post at my request as I felt too many identifying details could have been provided and I want to ensure that his daughter is always protected etc.

The responses I have received were very supportive and I’m so grateful so just posting again with the details removed.

I don't think I saw your other thread OP.
It sounds like an horrendously difficult time for you and his Dd and his family and friends.
So sorry .

scoobysnaxx · 30/07/2026 21:38

I think I remember your post. I had tried to find it and couldn’t.

scoobysnaxx · 30/07/2026 21:38

How are you?

AII41 · 30/07/2026 21:39

I was on your other post and saw the removal notice, I am glad to see you reach back out for support. Been thinking of you and wishing you peace and calm at this horrid time.

How are you?

I have no idea in all honesty. One minute full of anger and the next hysterically crying curled up on the floor. I thought I wanted to be alone for a day or two but maybe that’s not the best thing to do.

i am sorry if my words are clumsy xx

I remember your post. I am so sorry for the horrible pain you're going through :(

I haven't ever been through something so awful and shattering as this, so feel unable to advise. All I can say is that there will come a day where you will be able to look back and see that you survived this, and you overcame it.

Hang onto that coming day in the dark days ahead: light will come again.

I wish you and your daughter all strength and courage and hope.

OMGDidYouSayThat · 30/07/2026 23:40

Absolutely nothing i say would make a difference so i’ll just say i’m sorry you are having to go through something so painful and i genuinely hope you can find away through it, big hugs. Stay strong.

nocoolnamesleft · 30/07/2026 23:44

I cannot imagine how complicated and overwhelming your feelings must be right now. There is nothing you could have done. Credit to you for wanting to protect his daughter.

This is a completely devastating head fuck of a situation on multiple fronts. Try to find some company with trusted people, it is invaluable in helping you feel grounded in reality. This has happened to you but you are not the creator of this horror show and could not have predicted this. People with dark secrets are expert maskers who go to great lengths to hide their truth. All the savviness in the world is no match for that.

Have you real life support ? Can the police give you a liaison officer ?

DoYouThinkAbout · Yesterday 01:07

Sending you hugs and strength 💐

caringcarer · Yesterday 04:39

Give yourself time to get over this. Don't rush yourself back to work to quickly. I hope you and his DD find peace. 💐

I'm so sorry for your loss. There are groups for people who have lost their partners . I am sure he knew that you loved him despite whatever crime he committed

PennyFarther · Yesterday 07:09

I have some experience with the horror of the crime but can't imagine the added horrors you are going through. I am so sorry you are having to go through this.

Roseshavethorns · Yesterday 07:53

I remember your post.
You will be so confused just now. There will be so many conflicting emotions. You will be grieving for him whilst hating what he did and the way he died.
Your grief is separate from his actions. A sudden death (no matter what the circumstances) leaves so many questions. You are allowed to grieve the person you knew and the life you had. You are also allowed to be angry and disgusted. They are not mutually exclusive emotions.
It does help to talk so don't feel that you can't reach out for help. There are bereavement support groups when you are ready. (I lost my DH suddenly 6 months ago and am only starting to reach out now).
Please remember none of this is your fault.

WindyW · Yesterday 08:17

I saw your thread and I was so, so sorry that happened to you. You must be feeling the most complex grief right now. Sending you a huge handhold 💐
