Not chosen as a bridesmaid, possibly hidden bachelorette plans?

I am close with 2 siblings. Both were in my wedding. Earlier this year I found out i am not a bridesmaid and the reasoning was that there were not enough groomsmen on his side. I offered that my partner can step in, but friend rejected that idea, fine whatever...
One sibling is having a baby shower that a family member and I are hosting. At a get together the family member asked if friend was coming over the day before to set up to help with siblings baby shower. She proceeded to tell family member that she might have her bachelorette party the day before as family is flying in (some of these people are also married). When she was leaving, I asked what she wanted to for her bachelorette. This is before I knew she was discussing plans with my family member. She said she did not know. I casually messaged her asking about the day before and she said she would be coming the morning before the party. This tells me that she could possible be hiding something as she has not mentioned her party at all.

Your message was hard to follow. At first I thought you were going to be left out of your own siblings wedding, but then you say it's a friend. I think you overstepped in suggesting your partner could solve the problem with her numbers issue. I'm sure she has a brain and could figure out logistics when something is important to her.

How did you come about hosting the baby shower with the relative? Did they ask you to help or did you offer first and the expecting mother said relative was already doing it, but that maybe you could help?

Sounds like you might be interpreting this wrong and that one or both of these siblings don't feel as close to you as you do them. Are you the one who always initiates get togethers, or do they make equal effort?

If you're not invited to the bachelorette party, take this a sign that you'll probably want to downgrade the friendship or end it. I wouldn't end a friendship for not being included in the bridal party which is limited to a small group, but bachelorette parties can include huge groups, so if you're not included in that, well. . . .

Sorry for being vague, just paranoid my friend could possibly find this post. I had this happen where an account was linked to social media. Anyways....
My relative said I could host the shower for my bf because they live in a city where most people she would want to invite live.
Also very hard because bf is a godparent to my child, so I cannot just burn the bridge. After everything is done I wish I had the guts to ask why? I do feel very self conscious when social situations and friends are involved, so I'm scared that I am seen as the weird social outcast.

I mean, you can. You want a godparent who has high moral standards I guess? I think this would include not being shitty to the mother of the child.

My bf is sibling to the friend who is getting married. If I were to ever ask about not being included, I feel like this could blow up in my face.

This isn't clear at all, sorry. Who was in your wedding, both your best friend and their sibling! Which one is getting married and which one is having a baby?

Both were in my wedding party. My nf is pregnant and her sibling is getting married. So sorry.

Is it like this?

OP is friends with sister A and through the friendship has also become close with sister B.

Sister A and B were both bridesmaids at the OPs wedding.

Sister B is now getting married. As she is not the original friend, OP is not a bridesmaid and is upset about it and has asked if her husband could be a groomsman.

Sister A is having a baby shower and the OP has found out that sister B is having her bachelorette (are you American?) the day before. Op is not invited so sister B’s hen do.

Basically it seems to me OP that sister A is your friend but sister B views you as her sisters friend. It sucks when people don’t feel the same way about us as we do about them.

I can’t work out what is going on? Who is nf? Who is bf? Who didn’t have you as a bridesmaid?

I would not expect to be in my best friend’s sisters wedding. It’s lovely that you considered her close enough to be in yours, but it doesn’t always work the other way around. You can’t just volunteer your husband to be a groomsman in his wife’s best friend’s sisters wedding (do they even know each other?!) because you want to be in it. It sounds like she wants to keep everything much closer and maybe she’s always felt like she’s had her sister’s friends forced upon her. That’s okay, I think. It’s her wedding.

outerspacepotato · 30/07/2026 18:55

Your friend's sister is getting married. You had her in your wedding party but she's not having you and you're also not invited to the bachelorette party.

You're not as close to friend's sister as you think you are. You overstepped big time offering your husband as a groomsman so you could be a bridesmaid. Drop it.

What does your friend being your kid's godmother have to do with anything? It's a religious thing. It doesn't entitle you to inclusion in her family's big events.

Braveheart35 · 30/07/2026 20:58

Can’t you just ask your close friend A, if you are invited to her sisters hen night?

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/07/2026 21:01

Have you done a similar thread? Bachelorette party sounds familiar.

Do you have two threads on this, as I read this earlier today.
