I love my partner, but our mismatched libido is difficult

Iv Been dating a girl for over 2 years.
I love her, she loves me, we are insanely compatible and dont argue, see each other alot, and everything is good, except my sexual life. For reasons I understand and am well aware of, she has 0 libido and im permanently rejected in that aspect.
We talked about this. I said while I understand why things are like this, and I dont blame her for them, its also difficult for me.
I dont know if I should feel like an asshole over this and I genuinely dont know what to do that wont hurt one of us.

I suggest you both move on. You are not compatible, and others out there will be better matches for both of you.

Justaquestionplease · 17/07/2026 19:29

End it.

It won't change and you will be so miserable.

You're only two years in..cut your losses now and find someone else. Trust me!

username2185 · 17/07/2026 19:47

It would be a no for me, unless things could change? Assume she hasn’t always been like this?

category12 · 17/07/2026 19:54

End the relationship and try being friends instead.

You want a sexual relationship, which is fair enough. She doesn't. So you're incompatible.

It will be painful to break up, but better than dragging it on for longer. You have a better chance of coming out of it with a good friendship if you split amicably now.

Savoretti · 17/07/2026 19:56

That’s a massive part of a
relationship to be not compatible about so early on….

thistimelastweek · 17/07/2026 20:04

Well, you can masturbate a lot and pretend that everything is fine.
And that might just get you by
Or you can grasp the nettle and face up to the fact that in this you are mismatched

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 17/07/2026 20:06

we are insanely compatible and dont argue

You'll be much happier with someone else.

Newsenmum · 17/07/2026 20:08

People on here are miserable. Have you found out what the issue is with her libido and does she want to fix it? If things are perfect in every other way you can look at fixing this.

It's not miserable to respect the girlfriend's decision on sex. Presumably if she wanted to pursue "fixing" her libido, she would have in the 2 years they've been together.

OP shouldn't be pressuring her to get "fixed" either.

It shouldn't have to be that she has to change to suit a partner. She has to want to herself, for herself.

If a relationship is great apart from something fundamental needing to change about the other person, it's not great.

notatinydancer · 17/07/2026 20:31

You’re not ‘insanely compatible’ though.
Also you might not argue now , but you will start to.

Sex is a fairly normal expectation for most romantic relationships. She doesn't necessarily need to fix herself but she should seek a relationship with a person who is happy to be celibate.

No shit, sherlock. That's why I recommended they split up and just be friends.

donotgettheangst · 17/07/2026 23:12

I would suggest that you are in fact insanely incompatible. Not arguing, etc is great for a friendship - which is what you should be, not partners.

hididdlyho · 17/07/2026 23:31

Is the reason something that's likely to change in the future (eg taking medication like antidepressants which can affect sex drive)? If she's had a healthy libido in the past and wants to have a healthy sex life, but something is preventing it, that's a very different scenario to someone who's content with being celibate.

Mancity08 · 17/07/2026 23:36

A massive part of a relationship that bonds 2 people together. If it’s 0 now after only 2 years then I’m sorry if sex, closeness's means more to you than nothing ! You need to end it

@DroolingMoron - this with bells on.

For most people in a relationship, sexual intimacy is one of the key factors which distinguishes that relationship from other friendships. It is also for many of us a significant part of the glue that binds us to our partners.

Have you posted about this before? There was a previous thread started by a young man in your position and he dripfed that his girlfriend had been sexually abused. You say you understand why sexual intimacy will not be happening so I’m wondering if you’re the same poster. If so, that is terribly sad for your girlfriend but you are still not obliged to accept a lifetime of celibacy unless it is your active preference, and it clearly is not.

Another man looking for sex. 😒 So gross and so predictable.
