Does this sound like my ex is trying to provoke a reaction?

My ex and I had an on/off relationship when we were very young. We haven't been together for a long time. He's tried to make contact after I've blocked him before. He asked for another chance recently and I said no because I've done the work on myself and don't want him back in my life.
Within days he was telling me all about another woman, making comments that felt designed to make me jealous, and heavily implying they'll be having a baby very quickly if I don't have one with him instead, despite only knowing each other for a few months.
It honestly feels like he's trying to prove a point because I wouldn't take him back. Am I being unfair, or does this sound like someone trying to get a reaction?
so I'm wondering if this is just another attempt to get under my skin. Would you just ignore it and assume it'll burn itself out?

Ignore him, ignore him, ignore him, and then ignore him some more

He's not selling himself very well, is he?
Good to hear you're not considering taking him back.

This entirely.

Of course he is. He sounds like a twat. Why are you still in contact with him?

flowerpot13 · 12/07/2026 20:45

It is never a good idea to get into a conversation with him, he doesn't listen, and he is very manipulative. I have made myself virtually uncontactable, although my number is the same so if he was really desperate he could contact me on another number. It's causing me anxiety as I'm worried about what he might do next. Yes, it's best ignore it.

“Please don’t contact me again. If you do I will consider it harassment and speak to the police”

Then block

Sodthesystem · 12/07/2026 21:21

Yes, it has a name infact. It’s called narcissistic triangulation.

When an abuser uses another person (or even something like a place) to play you off against them and try to make you feel jealous/inadequate/competitive or like that person is the person who got away and you’ll never measure up (Which is probably who he makes out you are to her btw). It’s all bullshit designed to fuck with your head and normal people don’t do it. Abusers do.

Block him and keep him blocked.

Ooh bet you’re soooo jealous of her getting knocked up by some prick she has only known 3 months…NOT! Ahahaha

somanychristmaslights · 12/07/2026 21:26

Why on earth haven’t you blocked him completely? Stop engaging with him!!

Bonkers1966 · 12/07/2026 21:28

What a twat. Block
