I met someone today while out on a walk, chatted for ages. Really got on well, I know his name as asked a friend for it. I found him on Facebook would you send a friend request or wait and hope to bump into him another time?

Is this the first time you have met them? Are you interested romantically? Are they single? Lots of things to consider. If he didn't tell you his name might be a bit strange that you managed to find him but idk. Could just yolo it.

Error404FucksNotFound · 04/07/2026 15:50

You met him for the first time today, chatted, got hold of his name from someone else (so he didnt even tell you his name then?) and you tracked him down on fb? all within a few hours of talking to him for the one and only time?

I would not send him a friend request, no. It would be quite creepy imo.

If a bloke did all that to me I'd freak the fuck out.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 04/07/2026 15:51

Were you with the friend who told you his name when you spoke to him? If so, I think it’s ok because he’ll know you got his name from the mutual friend who was standing right there.
If not, then it’s weird, because he won’t know how you got his name.

MyArtfulGreySloth · 04/07/2026 15:53

Stalkerish, sorry.

CaffeinatedSeagull · 04/07/2026 15:58

No…

Can the mutual friend help in anyway? Ie invite you both to a function, drink out or something so that you can meet again.

Beekman · 04/07/2026 16:01

Like you, I would have had a look for him
on social media (though this place will tell you even that is stalkerish) but I wouldn’t send out a friend request. Can to arrange to bump into him again?

notacooldad · 04/07/2026 17:01

Too soon!

I agree. This is the only way to do it that doesn’t look weird, sorry OP!

Duvetdayneeded · 04/07/2026 17:08

Go for the same walk at the same time tomorrow or the same day next week and meet him again that way. That’s what we used to do in the old days!!!

Hatty65 · 04/07/2026 17:13

No. It's definitely weird stalker behaviour.

I'd be freaked by it. Does he even know your name? It doesn't sound like either of you introduced yourselves.

Legolaslady · 04/07/2026 17:16

Well how did you leave things? When you said goodbye presumably neither of you felt like asking if you'd meet again or for each others contact details ?

EBearhug · 04/07/2026 17:20

If you've checked him on FB,maybe you'll show as a "someone you might know", and you'll get a friend request from him...

PizzaPunk · 04/07/2026 17:24

No I would be very creeped out if I chatted to a stranger, didn’t tell them my name and then received a friend request.

I’d do my utmost to avoid them after that.

Disturbia81 · 04/07/2026 18:23

Life is short, just do it. Nothing to lose.

This. ^ Odd behaviour @happhapphappy If a man did this to me I would be freaked out and would instantly block. If a woman did it I would still think it odd, but much worse if it was a man. Don't do it. Just wait til you have bumped into him a few more times at least
