CICA after reporting abuse/SA

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has claimed CICA after domestic abuse and rape?
I have had to leave my job because my abuser worked at the same place and so if I'm honest compensation would really help right now (I know it's a long process). However I've heard some say that claiming CICA can damage your case in court, although wrongly the defence use it against you.
Has anyone had any experience with this please?
Thank you!

Do you have an ISVA? They'd be the best person to ask. I put a CICA claim in whilst the case was still being investigated, but I know that my ISVA checked with the investigating officer first.

Another, depressing, thing to consider, is that a lot of rapes do not make it to court. I think it's around 5% of reported rapes end up in court. So, possibly the claim being used against you isn't a big worry.

If you've not got an ISVA, may try a rape helpline? My local one was who put me in touch with an ISVA.

I do have an ISVA it was her that mentioned that it could go against me in court which is what made me think twice, I’ve also asked my OIC who said they couldn’t comment on that.

That is very true and sadly had occurred to me that it might not even matter.

Thank you so much for commenting and I’m so sorry you went through what you did!
