"You get what you settle for"

I've just finished re-watching Thelma and Louise. What a great, iconic movie and out of all the iconic moments, this line stood out to me.

I'm seeing thread after thread after thread on this board about women living with men who don't respect them, men who don't pull their weight, men who see women as default childcare, men who expect to be waited on, men who put their needs first, men who won't commit, men who are sexually demanding, men who are jealous, men who are aggressive and men who are controlling,

If you are one of those women living with a substandard man, know this. You are worth more than this. You are better off on your own than with a man who treats you badly.

You will never find a man who treats you right whilst if stay with the one who treats you wrong.

"You get what you settle for"

Such a great and true life observation.

Forget trying to change him - change yourself. Make a change. Do it now.

You get one life. Stop wasting it on someone who won't put you first, someone who doesn't care about you, someone who doesn't listen to you, someone who sees you as second to them.

Don't settle.

I totally agree with you but the sad fact is that so many women (and maybe men) settle for shit because they don't believe they can do better. They can and they will. If anyone reading hasn't seen Thelma and Louise then watch it, it's a great film.

Make the life YOU want, not what's expected of you. xx

I have come to the horrible realisation that men in general do not like us.
They want us.
They make lives with us.
But they then resent that.
Then they blame women.
Germainn Greer famously said "women do not realise how much men hate them"
Every time I hear about another woman killed by a man I come back to that quote.
