Anyone else feeling inexperienced with relationships and dating at 40?

Just passed the big 4-0 and I'm frustrated at how much of a sheltered life I've had when it come to relationships and sex. My job doesn't allow me to meet many new people and I have a small circle of friends. I've tried dating sites, going out etc all with very limited success.

I don't know what I'm looking for, but a bit of spontaneity and excitement would be a good start I guess!

What am I doing wrong here? I'm successful, outgoing, a bit reserved but always like a good time with others. People like me a lot, just rarely "like that"!

Everyone seems to have much more "luck" than me, but I can't be the only one who is like this surely?

It sounds like you could do with going to a few activities where you could meet people. Maybe focus on doing things you enjoy and then people will be more drawn to you. I wonder if you have a really good, honest, kind friend who could suggest what else might make you more attractive to the opposite sex.

People are shallow, think about appearance, clothes and hair. Try to make yourself approachable in places you feel comfortable?

I guess you swpie 'no' on the majority of men, because they aren't up to your expectations?

It's ok, the majority of us do that too. The dating app pool is dire. I do suggest you go to M&S on a Saturday! Or just live life with your friends. Hopefully, the right one will turn up eventually. I'm ever in hope!
