Married men actively looking for new female friends

so I joined Bumble bff which is NOT the dating app it’s a separate app for making platonic friends.

I might match with single or gay men but I’ve been swiping left on the married and ‘in a relationship’ profiles.

what’s your opinion on straight men in relationships being on there looking for friendships with women? (There are quite a number of them) Would you swipe right?

It’s not weird to me at all. They’re pretending they want female friends but actually want an extramarital shag, and you already know they’re married so cannot complain that you didn’t. So simple.

Likely they're hoping for a threesome with their wife or sex on the side. No man is going on bumble looking for a friend.

Yes, sad. But why do they want to make friends with women? Reeks of expecting women to meet their emotional needs, at best.

Well, why not? Why cut yourself off from half the human race as potential friends?

In an ideal world this would be lovely. In reality men aren't on Bumble to seek friends.

I assume they’re thinking friend ‘with benefits’.

Anewerforest · 20/03/2026 21:38

Hmm. Married men have opportunities to meet women they get on with via their wives. My DH gets on with most of my single women friends and really doesn't need an app to find more women for platonic friendships.

ForTipsyFinch · 20/03/2026 22:25

They probably want someone to offload on as a free therapist with a side of sex chat. But I’m a cynical young crone so don’t listen to me 😂

Funny enough on this very subject my mate sent me a screenshot from a dating app this morning asking g ‘is it me or is this weird?’

The blokes profile pic is him and a woman and his bio reads ‘yes I’m married yes that’s my wife. I’m looking for a female friend I can talk to about our problems’

Yes it is fucking weird

givemecuptea · 21/03/2026 15:33

It'll be so they can have an excuse to their wives if caught on it - "see it was only the friends one" "I was only looking for friends"

Mingspingpongball · 21/03/2026 16:01

Of course it’s “look how open I am with my wife” she knows I just love the chats with random women about how to grow potatoes or boil and egg.. it’s exactly as a pp said …”plausible deniability “.
Presumably the man can then say to his wife “you are so controlling about me having friends. Why can’t I have platonic friends. Thats specifically what I searched for”. Is it fuck. There’s not a chance that they aren’t all just not “adept” at meeting people for sex/affairs or hiding it well, so it’s hiding in plain sight.

FlamingoFloss · 21/03/2026 16:06

I wouldn’t trust that friendship was all they wanted and I wouldn’t feel comfortable with my DH seeking this either.

it also makes me think of the scrabble game online and that’s well known for people playing games, chatting and having affairs

LittleCrumblyBiscuit · 21/03/2026 16:08

It’s glaring obvious what they’re doing there. Grim.
