hey everyone, i'm going through a really tough breakup and could use some outside perspective. my ex and i were in a situationship, and almost a month ago he told me he didn't love me anymore and left me for someone else. he blocked me on everything right after.

i've been doing no contact since then, but he's been the one breaking it. he's texted me a few times late at night (like 3am), asking about my dog and sending stickers, even though he's the one who said he never wanted to talk to me again.

now i have an unread message sitting in my archived chats. i searched through every contact i have in my archives and nothing else came up, so it's almost certainly him. i've been too scared to open it for days.

does it seem like he still has feelings, or do you think it's really him sitting in my archives trying to reach out again?

I know it’s really difficult but block and delete his number. I went through similar and I found it easier when I knew he couldn’t text me. I was waiting for messages and worrying about what they would say.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 05/03/2026 08:37

If he persists in contacting you at all hours do not hesitate to contact the police because this amounts to harassment. It is also behaviour that can escalate.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 05/03/2026 08:42

Block his number and delete it. It doesn't matter why he's doing it, you need to move forward and he's holding you back

Endofyear · 05/03/2026 08:45

Oh OP, he is messing with your feelings which is unbelievably cruel after he's left you for someone else. For your own peace of mind, you really need to block him and delete any messages he sends. You won't move on until you do.

tarheelbaby · 05/03/2026 08:47

I think he's just stringing you along. He's trying to keep you sweet so he can make a booty call or 'get back together'. Next thing you know, he'll be swearing that he's loved you all along and this current 'fling' was just a terrible mistake on his part.
So as per PPs, I'd block and delete.

GelfBride · 05/03/2026 08:49

All of the above.

No, he's getting pissed and messing with you. Block.

AmandaBrotzman · 05/03/2026 08:49

Block him, he's fucking with you. You call it a 'situation ship' but said he stopped loving you? How do you talk about love in a 'situationship' anyway? Sounds like a total head fuck, you need to block and delete.

Walkacrossthesand · 05/03/2026 09:04

Thought the grass was greener, discarded you without a thought, finds out grass is less green, trying to wheedle his way back as if it had never happened.
No. You could never trust him not to do the same again, no matter what sweet words and promises he makes - you’ve done the initial hard work, block him (like he did you) and don’t look back.

SilverPink · 05/03/2026 09:39

He’s fucking you around, other woman probably got wise and dumped him so now he’s sniffing around you again. Block and move on. You don’t need him.

exhaustDAD · 05/03/2026 09:48

Whatever his motive is, it is no concern of yours any more, @SODAhyun I am sorry about the tough breakout, and the intense feelings that go with it. But he verbalised not loving you, and actively left you for someone else. There is nothing else that matters in this story. You deserve respect, and it is irrelevant what else he would want from you going forward. Just as others have said above, block number, and move on towards a brighter tomorrow.

Catza · 05/03/2026 09:56

He has feelings but not the ones you are hoping for. Block and delete.

ThePerfectWeekender · 05/03/2026 10:13

You were a place marker. He never viewed you as a serious prospect, hence the 'situationship.' It's telling that the messages are at 3am too, booty calls when he wants to feed his ego.
Block and forget. He'll never be the one.
