Date moving for 3 Months

I matched with someone on Hinge a couple years back but it never worked out as he was focussed on his career as a chef and didnt have time.

We stayed in touch casually and decided to take the leap and go on a date as he has built up his own brand to become freelance and therefore now has time to 'be able to continue something he starts'.

The date was lovely, we are really into eachother and it felt so natural. However, the day before our date he mentioned he may be moving to Germany for work for 3 months as a private chef for an up and coming footballer.

It is such an amazing opportunity and we both agreed he should absolutely take it!!

He said he will be back on weekends and reckons we can carry on getting to know eachother better etc. He said hes looking forward to seeing me again but hasnt set a date (I guess cos at the moment hes figuring out logistics) - He also offered to pay for a couple of my flights so I could go visit if Im comfortable with it. I have a young son so thats not the best option.

Obvs I wont wait around but also 3 months isnt the end of the world and I like him (weve had a thing for 2 or so years just never pursued it).

He leaves on Sunday - he said he will let me know when he will be back to visit. Other than that he is texting normally.

Has anyone else been in this situation?
Im easy going but I do like him and do want to get to know him but also want to be realistic?

You've been on one date and he wants to fly you out to Germany
No thanks 🚩

It’s 3 months, stay in contact but don’t start travelling for him, I don’t think a man you’ve met once is worth that effort. If it picks up when he’s back then great but don’t pin all your hopes on just him yet.

I’d want proof he is in Germany and who the player is. Sounds poasible but sketchy
