I'm a horrible person at times

There's road works in the street at the moment, and lots of signage to say the road is closed and there's a diversion. Despite this multiple vehicles have ignored the signs and pushed past only to find there's a massive hole in the road and they can't go any further.

I witnessed at least 12 then using our drive to turn, some off them not very good drivers just missing our new wall.

I was annoyed as the signage is there warning these drivers and im sure that if any if them caught our wall, they wouldn't necessarily stop to say they had or to pay for the damage. So, as it's bin day and recycling collection in the morning I put these out at the bottom of our drive ready. Not sure the bin men will even be able to collect, but we haven't been informed otherwise.

Another five cars push past the signs, some reversed back, but one went to use our drive. In doing so, he's knocked the bin over. I'm not at all worried about the bin, I picked the waste back up and put it back in the bin. But I feel absolutely horrible now, as maybe his car is marked. I'm sure my husband thinks I was horrible too by putting our waste there.

You're not horrible serves them right however I totally understand ignoring roadworks signs as councils are terrible for not taking them down

You put your bins out - they presented a huge black/blue/green/brown clearly visible obstacle which other drivers should be able to see and avoid. YANBU for putting out your recycling and having it hit by a driver who should’ve been looking!!
