[Disenchanted]

Having DS2s 2nd birthday party today.

My Grans eldest son is 46, he has one PFB who is 7.

He is paranoid. He says everyone treats her differently (bollocks!)

He is very ill, but just moans all the time, shouts is abusive to my gran!

I can't stand him!

Anyway at first my gran said she couldn't come to my DSs birthday party because HE was visiting that day (?!?) I told her he comes every saturday and is welcome to the party.

He said he WOULDN'T come and that he would just visit in the morning.

I arrange the party and buy 5 children, party bags, wrap 5 presents for pass the parcela nd have 5 various other gifts for kids.

Now he says he is coming and my gran and mum are flapping because she doesn't have a party bag gift...

They are saying she can have one of the younger kids party bag as they wont want half of whats in it anyway

I said NO

So my gran is currently running about like a headless chicken treying to get a bag together... phoning me saying 'it will be OK we will just explain what happened... don't worry'

Well Im not!

i didn't buy 5 kids! lol, stray comma there!

This is a drama of their own making, disenchanted. Let the pair of them get on with sorting it out to their own satisfaction. And don't you flap. Quite right! Hope the party goes well.

What a PITA for you. When you say he is very ill do you mean physically or mentally? (IE can he help being a knob or not).Are your mum and gran pandering to him because he is playing the victim card ('everyone be nice to me because I'm so ILL') or has he always been difficult?
Basically, you can;t change other people's behaviour, you can only change your reaction to it, so if you can find him ludicrous (or even someone to pity) rather than annoying it might help you. I'd be sorry for his DD though as a 7 year old is likely to find a room full of2 year olds not very exciting company.

you need to understand that a 7 year old is still very much a child .. and whilst one can explain that there isn't a party bag for them they could still be upset, particularly if the parent doesn't manage their expectations well

so I think it's fine getting together a party bag specially for her

and you make her the helper for the younger ones .. get her in charge of the music for pass the parcel (and not part of it)
