Claires Law Disclosure Today

SockedandSad · 05/01/2026 09:54

I have a video call this afternoon with the police about a Claires law request I made about someone I was seeing.
I am really nervous about it and wondering what will be disclosed. Can't believe I got out of an abusive marriage and the first person I got close to after years was showing all the signs of being like my ex!
What should I expect - anyone know? Any advice. Feeling a bit sad and sick.

I don't know I'm afraid but I wondered do you know if I could look up some one who I don't have a relationship with anymore but is a neighbour still? Best of luck today.

I'm not sure. You can always put a Claires Law request in. They will ask you why you have requested and then decide if they think it is in your best interest to let you know.

Clare’s Law is brilliant but when I initiated this for a woman I was supporting (Family Support Worker) I was disappointed that the police did not disclose to the woman that her new fiancée had been called out to a DA situation he subjected a previous gf to.
It was a few years previously but he also had police markers for drugs and verbal assaults.
I just think he was very controlling and likely to escalate if things weren’t going his way.
Sadly the woman had grown up in a very dysfunctional family and previous partner was physically abusive. I think she felt safe with a controller and this one was less physically aggressive. So far.

Good luck OP. Is this guy now out of your life?

Well unfortunately for reasons I won't say for fear of being identified, he is still in my life to a degree. Though I am not in a relationship with him. I can't completely get him out of my life though 😟
