”when are you 2 getting married?!”

future MIL :
”well, he has already been divorced once!” Straight off the bat.

any thoughts?

i have known partner for over 20 years and we have lived together for nearly 3.

I wouldn't think anything of it.

What did DP say?

More important than what this other person thinks. I don’t think much of anything to the comment. I’ve been divorced. I’ve also remarried and this one is going much better. My SIL was divorced twice when she met DB and it seems to be third time lucky for her. Life is messy.

I'm divorced, and it has amazed me how many people automatically assume I wouldn't ever want to get married again. I would think that is what his DM was saying, nothing more really.
