Am I overthinking

Other half working and supposed to be home about 40 mins later.
I was not in but they arrived home about two hours later. Told me they had stayed on for a while which they sometimes do but I had an insecure moment and the phone location which we both have turned on showed them at location two miles from work location after work time. Location showed work location whole time till this extra forty minutes they stayed on and then were two miles away. This is bothering me. I know I should not be checking their location.
Would this bother you? Do you think I am worrying about nothing. Could the phone get the location wrong by two miles?

Does your partner know you can see their location?
If yes - I doubt they’re doing anything they should t be.
if no - need more details as that’s a massive line to cross and does not paint you in a good light!

queenintheocean · 08/11/2025 22:48

Yes we know each other locations

Unlikely to be out my two miles OP. It’s pretty accurate.

What was in this area? Houses, or more like a high street with cafes etc?

queenintheocean · 08/11/2025 22:50

Houses

I have been known to tell DH I have stayed late but nipped into a coffee shop or fast food place on the way home for a bit of time on my own. I work in a very sociable role, am climbed over all the time at home by the kids and I then see DH once they are in bed and talk etc. Sometimes I get peopled out and just need a little time away. DH doesn't understand this as he works from home most of the week.

JudgeBread · 08/11/2025 22:52

Any pubs nearby? Sneaky after work pint?

I tend to want to think the best of people but that is a bit sus.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 08/11/2025 22:52

Common sense says it’s hugely unlikely the location would be correct all day and then suddenly jump 2 miles away for no good reason for the 2 hours your DP is unaccounted for. I suppose it’s not impossible but it seems very unlikely, the far more logical answer is that s/he is lying to you.

MeganM3 · 08/11/2025 22:54

Probably thought you’d be funny about him going for an after work drink so did it without telling you.

ShrubRose · 08/11/2025 22:55

What gave you "the insecure moment " OP?
Have other things happened recently that didn't seem right?

queenintheocean · 08/11/2025 22:57

I do feel worried

OP posts:
queenintheocean · 08/11/2025 23:00

I’m not funny about that just if I’m lied to. I feel concerned as he didn’t bring work bags home. He said they let him leave them there which is unusual as don’t normally.

OP posts:
Coffeislife · 08/11/2025 23:03

What's in the work bags ?

Coffeislife · 08/11/2025 23:04

I think the biggest worry is that you say the location was at work the whole time ? So how often are you checking this ? Do you have reason to be suspicious?

JudgeBread · 08/11/2025 23:13

I think I'd just have to outright say "I know you weren't at work, you know how I feel about lying, where were you?" and see what he comes out with. I think it's quite easy to tell when someone is lying when they're put on the spot.

NameChangedandsad · 08/11/2025 23:31

agree with @JudgeBread , ask him OP

OchreRaven · 09/11/2025 08:16

I would ask him. There could be a reason he might tell a white lie that isn’t a big deal but you will never know if you don’t ask him. Your gut will tell you if what he is saying rings true.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 09/11/2025 08:52

I wouldn’t ask. If he’s up to no good, he’s not going to tell you.

Location is usually accurate.

Keep an eye on his location in future to see if he’s lying.

Remember though if trust is eroded like it already seems to be starting, then there’s not much of relationship.

The Op is doing that 'hiding the sex of the other half by using they instead of he or she' thing.

Just ask him OP 🤷🏻‍♀️
Do you have reason to distrust him ?

The best ones are when they talk about their child and start off by giving the sex away (DS or DD) and then 'they/their' for the rest of the post. It's a bit strange.

Well yeah a little strange alright , sure no one knows who anyone is , don’t see the need to hide genders to be fair ..
