Complete loss of sex drive

For the past few months, I have completely lost my sex drive, I still have sex with my DH around 2 times a week, this is more for his benefit, as I know he will be disappointed or become distant towards me if we don’t. I also know that sex is part of a healthy relationship, but I just have no interest in sex at all. We have a 7 and 9 year old, so we are not in the early stages of baby/toddler stage.
I don’t know how to fix it, has anyone had the same and if so, did your sex drive eventually return? I’m 42 if that’s relevant.

Firstly, my sympathies, it's a horrible situation to be in.

You need to stop having sex you don't want to have. If you enjoyed it once you got going and just needed to get yourself in the mood that would be different, but it sounds like you don't want it at all. That's a recipe for severe resentment on your part further down the line, and it's almost impossible to drag your relationship back from that.

If your husband is a decent man he won't want you to have sex you don't want, and he won't want his wife to feel like this. You really need to talk to him and tell him how you feel - it's a difficult conversation to have, but the alternative is far worse and continuing as you are is not an option.

Do you fancy/notice other men? Do you masturbate? If you have a sex drive but you're just not attracted to your husband, that's a decent place to start a conversation about getting some spark and excitement back in your marriage. Best of luck, it's really a horrible place to be in and you haven't done anything wrong
