How to make mum friends when I work full time?

I work full time and DD (20 months) is in nursery. This is my first baby and none of my friends/family have children so I feel quite alone and am really desperate for some mum friends. I work full time and all the toddler groups seem to be on weekdays. How can I meet other mums on the weekends?

Ive used the peanut app during mat leave and met a few nice mums but it never progressed past a few meet ups. I also did baby classes on mat leave but never stayed im touch after the classes ended.

HELP!

Ask nursery if your child has any children they like playing with and then ask them to put you in touch with the parents to organise a play date. When it’s your child’s birthday throw a party and ask nursery to give out invites :)

Also, they’ll be in school before you know it and that’s a great way to meet other parents too. And try signing up for a ballet/gymnastics/swimming class on the weekend

This. Before you know it you'll be at a children's birthday party every weekend Grin

I suppose you could find ground ground with the childrens interests. An example is if you and the others child loves football you could invest in this together. Its very easy to make friends but much harder to keep them i have learned.

Thanks for the advise. I will definitely speak to the nursery and plan something for her birthday. I dont know why I never thought of that before!
