ladies in your 50’s. How many close friends do you have?

I have one close female friend. We text regularly and meet up once a week. We both work part time. Other friends I catch up with once a year. Most of them either work in the week or are looking after grandchildren and at weekends it’s their family time which I understand. I feel like I don’t really have many friends anymore. Anyone in the same boat ?

Same, only one really and we meet about 4 or 5 times a year these days. Anno domine etc.

I sadly have no real close friends. My best friend died nearly 4 years ago and I still miss her like crazy. I have a couple of superficial friends who I see probably once a month but no one I text every day. I would love a close friend again.

@Cynic17 what is your objection “ladies”? What word would you have preferred the op use?

I'm the same - I had more but I emigrated so don't see them often. One nice friend I meet for lunch.

I'm not amazing but 20 years ago I’d just moved house and had an aura migraine. I called my mum who was too far to help but she did ‘helpfully’ tell me how important friends were. I 🙄, but she’s right, and I’ve since always had a village.

I was away last weekend with school friends. A month before with a group I’ve known for 30 years. More recent friends are local, to meet up for coffee. I didn’t really make any at the school gate, too busy with work and kids but I always had friends to chat to/ do favours for/ call on.

2 friends from school I’ve known about 49 years
3 friends from the last 20 years who are close but we
dont see each other often.
1 friend from uni who I see rarely but is in the (pick up where we left off) category.
3-4 other friends who don’t feel as close.

None really. Lots of acquaintances but no one close. I do like my own company though.

2 closest friends, best friend from uni, closest friend from primary school, 3 school mums, 2 camping friends. Enough.

A few years ago, I would have said 1. Now about 4. But lots of friends I could call or go out with.

It takes a bit of effort but definitely worth it. My girlfriend's are the best, we have so much fun and keep me young!

2 great friends I’ve known since school so 50+ years
another really good friend from when I was 18
another I used to work with, from 2008
several from old workplaces from 2000 - now so over 25 years
Probably 10 or more friends I don’t see a lot but consider friends

No one i could just call or text anytime. A handful i meet every couple of weeks or so for a coffee. But if i stopped making the effort i'd go weeks without seeing anyone.

Close friends - 4 I would say that I go on breaks with, meet weekly, text daily or every few days. Then other friends, maybe 5 I meet up with every couple of months.

My world grew quite small with immigration and age. I have a couple of texting friends but no one close, and I don’t want any. I like my own company and my husband’s.

I would say I have four that I see pretty regularly and a few others who are friends but part of a group so wouldn’t see them on their own.

Only one of my four close friends works full time so it’s easy enough to get together. I see two of them once a week and the other two at least once a month - sometimes it’s a struggle to get diaries aligned but we try and make the time, even if it’s just getting together for an evening walk.

Not many. I like my own company and although I am genuinely interested in people sometimes find them fairly broken and stressful.

Hi OP, I’m just coming on to say I see nothing wrong with using the word ladies. It’s astonishing what people find offensive these days. Why is it something that now get’s people’s back’s up? 🧐

I'd also like to understand what's so offensive about using the term "ladies".
