A woman i know who I thought was gay due to her appearance spoke of her partner abd referred to ger partner as He. I cannot get my head round this. I was so convinced she would be into women. Why not just say boyfriend?

I describe mine as partner (although technically fiancé) as I’m 41 and boyfriend sounds far too young! Plus partner is the next step commitment wise. And I like the Wild West cowboy feel of it 😂

Because some people call their partners 'partners', some say 'boy/girlfriend', some say 'other half' - because people can call them what they like. The idea that 'partner' refers only to someone in a gay relationship is massively old-fashioned, I remember when my dad got divorced and met a new woman he called her his 'partner' because they were in their 40s and neither thought boy/girlfriend was the right word for them. I think two people thought he was referring to a gay partner - this was in the 1990s... the world has moved on.

Also thinking you can base someone's sexual preference from their outward appearance sounds dangerously like stereotyping... which is not on.

Have you just been on X ? There is a thread on there? I use partner, because boyfriend is weird at my age. We aren’t married. Why is it even a thing?

honestly, check X out. So many threads on here are copy cats of things that have been on X

Partner could be a woman who uses He/Him pronouns?

? Why would a woman use him/he pronouns?

I have to say that I am not sure about ny own sexual identity. I do not class myself as a lesbian, but I am more drawn to women sexually than men. I have never been intimate with a woman, and that's not because I dont want to be, it's because although ive been in the company of women I would be intimate with, they have either been completely heterosexual or already have a sane sex partner or simply not into me and the woman who I thought was gay, for the first time ever we were together talking with nobody else around us abd it was so free and easy unlike other times when it's been so awkward, we've hardly been able to say two words to each other like a couple of blushing teenagers who fa my each other.

Is she like a blushing teenager around you if she has a male partner? Is this post more about the fact that you are disappointed that she isn't into women because of how you feel? But either way, if someone has a partner of either sex then they aren't a viable romantic interest for you anyway.

She was like a blushing teenager and so was I because I thought she was gay and when you like someone and gave a romantic interest, you become nervous around them. However being in their company just the two of us, all that nervousnes was gone and we chatted and laughed like we were best friends and afterwards we said to each other that we had found out a lot about one another which was interesting. She never spoke of her partner other than to say briefly that she had one. Maybe she had picked op a vibe from me from previous interactions Thai I was interested and she was letting me know that she was not available.

Anyway time to look elsewhere now
