what advice are you after ?

MidlandsGal1 · 16/10/2025 21:03

Is your partner controlling in other aspects of life?
What is their issue with you having a couple of drinks after a stressful day?

landlordhell · 16/10/2025 21:04

How has this affected him? Were you supposed to be somewhere else? What is the issue?

SmugglersHaunt · 16/10/2025 21:06

Well I’m glad he didn’t overreact. What a twat!

dimension2025 · 16/10/2025 21:09

i guess I just need some reassurance that it wasn’t that bad
I left the pub at 6 to go home , had nowhere I needed to be and I wasn’t even due to see him I just called him on the way home and he accused me of being a liar

Of course it's not bad, why shouldn't a grown up have some drinks with colleagues after work?? What could possibly be wrong with that?
Don't let him brainwash you into thinking you have done something wrong.
He is controlling. If you don't live with him it's easier to break up, which I suggest you do straight away before he corodes your self esteem

It is that bad if you can't have a couple of drinks with colleagues without being accused of being a 'liar'...

Cnidarian · 16/10/2025 21:18

This man is a danger to your peace and happiness. Of course you are fine

No5ChalksRoad · 16/10/2025 21:20

Think hard: Why are you with a man who judges and begrudges you a perfectly ordinary break. Going out for drinks with colleagues is a normal and common social activity.

Parsing "drink" or "drinks" is arsehole nonsense.

What is your age? Beware of men who try to shame, guilt or control you. They truly aren't worth it and can blight your life beyond belief.

Well, he is being completely unreasonable.

What you did is something the length and breadth of the country do every day.

Why is he jumping straight to calling you a liar? Ans: he knows you've done nothing wrong, but is angry anyway, so is calling you out for being a liar, which you can't disprove.

Please dump his miserable self.

UpDownAllAround1 · 16/10/2025 21:24

Have you a drink issue? You are not giving us enough info other that to conclude he is prat at best. What have you lied about accordingly to him?

Arlanymor · 16/10/2025 21:25

If you’re not seeing him tonight why does he even need to know where you have been?

No I don’t have a drink issue I said to him I have had a drink after work but because I was slightly tipsy he said you have had more than a drink , and was lying to him for saying I have had one

unless English is a very new language to him he is bound to have heard people say going for a drink when they mean an indeterminate number of drinks. Does he think people are going to the pub to knock a drink back in one guzzle when they say they are going for a quick drink.

I would not tolerate being called a liar for that.

ForTipsyFinch · 16/10/2025 22:30

Why would it be bad? I don’t think most people would consider it anything to even think of. He’s absolutely ridiculous - what a control freak.
