Feel deflated about a missed opportunity

Went for a job. Middle leadership in teaching. Didn’t get it. Feel a failure. The other candidate had visited the school before or knows them somehow the staff walked in greeted her said oh we’ve met you before nice to see you again. I did everything to put my best foot forward but still nothing. They wanted to offer a subordinate position and said they’d ring me today but I just tuned out when I got the no and I didn’t want the subordinate role. I’m just feeling deflated and not ready to tell my manager about this

.Middle management can often be an undeniable position to ge in; one foot in SLT office and one in the classroom. You may have been working far more for little pay increase, once tax had been taken. Have a think about it over the weekend. What impact would the job have had on your life? If you believe it would have been positive then keep your eye open. You will probably need to work with the new appointee i imagine. Do so with good grace.
