Hello, I just wanted to ask people’s opinions. I have a son of 9 and I have noticed that my husband will still follow him to the toilet. I have mentioned before that this isn’t necessary. Tonight I went upstairs and my son was sitting on the loo and my husband was stood with his hand on his head (my son’s) looking at him him go to the loo,

I felt very uncomfortable with this and later asked him why he was doing that. He has exploded at me calling me fucking nuts and has said if I ever say such a thing again he will leave. I said he shouldn’t be following him to the toilet now.

He said I have obviously had a weird upbringing to find that odd.

I am not completely confused and wondering if I am a bit wrong here.

Hmm
SpudsAndCarrots · 09/10/2025 22:24

I'd be leaving him and reporting to SS and applying for a court order of only supervised contact.

NewHat · 09/10/2025 22:26

The children on these posts are always and without fail nine.

MidnightBlueStars · 09/10/2025 22:29

Sorry I am a serious poster, I feel I shouldn’t have asked. I am guessing from people’s reactions that my own concerns are right. I am in a difficult situation where it is hard to trust my judgement.

That's not right at all and neither is your husband's reaction!

What do you mean you're in a difficult situation?

Very worrying.

Freeme31 · 09/10/2025 22:46

Yes it’s very strange, so is his response- why does he think it’s normal?

TwistedWonder · 09/10/2025 22:54

Wtf have I just read? Your poor son having such a creepy father

Im sure I’m not the only one thinking your DH could be inappropriately touching your DS.

jackdunnock · 10/10/2025 00:40

Where in earth has he got this idea from that what he's doing is normal or acceptable? At the very least he's got some mental issues and can't see to accept that your ds is growing up - does he still treat him like a 3 year old in other ways? Or maybe it's because of something that happened to him as a child?

MidnightBlueStars · 10/10/2025 06:16

Thank you I was starting to wonder from his reaction if I was completely wrong. He’s furious with me and what he thinks I have implied. He’s likely to be mad at me for ages now. I will speak to my son to remind him that he is entitled to privacy and to close the door Thank you.

Oh come on. Are you an adult? Call the police

Dogmaz · 12/10/2025 20:12

Of course it's weird as you put it, but what was the story, was your son asking him something or was there a conversation going on.. it happens a lot that I'm in the bathroom while my 9 yr old is on the toilet
