Going on a date in a bit
My second one this week (since 1996)

Annoyed that I am nervous!!

Have fun.
It will be fine
You sound more than ready for it
Most of all enjoy yourself and be yourself

ComtesseDeSpair · 29/08/2025 20:15

Just relax and be open minded about it. You’re meeting somebody who will hopefully be interesting and funny and, if nothing else, will have an enjoyable evening with a nice person in a new bar you haven’t been to before, even if you don’t hit it off with any chemistry. That was always my approach, I liked dating: just to see it as a more fun alternative to another evening at home, having a conversation with somebody I’d probably never otherwise meet in my daily life. Pressure off, just see what happens.

How was the date?

MarchionessVonSausage · 30/08/2025 06:23

You're never too old!

Hope it went well- if it didn't don't worry about it.

There are more out there. Wishing you luck XX

whoboo · 30/08/2025 06:37

I was on a date once and tried to scratch my foot, dickhead thought I was going in for a kiss. Can't be worse than that haha

MumofSpud · 30/08/2025 12:08

Update: all good - probably meeting up next week. I don’t think I embarrassed myself so that’s a positive. There were no awkward silences (but I suppose when you’re both in your 50s you have plenty of stories to go through!)

Great update OP, glad it went well for you. Good luck with date no 2, it's quite unusual in OLD to meet someone that you actually want to see again so this looks promising!
