Relationship sayings to live by

I heard a great one recently:

’if someone ghosts you, block them and light a candle for the deceased’

Anyone got any others? My own mum said ‘don’t plan your life around facilitating a man, because he’s also planning that’ and that’s sadly true for many men.

I like this one from Judge Judy...not just about relationships but it applies

If you tell the truth you don't need a good memory

ChristmasFluff · 16/08/2025 08:38

I have two, and I cannot remember where I heard them, but I have learned the truth of them first hand.

Men have started wars, given up crowns and created a new faith to be with a woman they want. If he isn't texting, it's because he isn't interested enough.

In every relationship, there is one who kisses, and one who turns the cheek (so basically one who is keener than the other, even if only by a whisker). In a patriarchy, there can only be balanced power in the relationship if the woman is the one who turns the cheek.

Have a good look at how he treats his mum!

Men are an accessory not an essential. If he's not enhancing your life return to the shop.

Eviebeans · 16/08/2025 08:46

If you loved them as they were when you met them don’t try to change them

Sweetbeansandmochi · 16/08/2025 08:52

Listen to what they do not what they say

I love this one, it should be the standard reply to many posts on here.

I'm going to share it with my single friend. Thanks MissMimi

Someone once told me this one during a painful breakup I had “No man is worth your tears, but the one who is worth them will never make you cry”

TaborlinTheGreat · 16/08/2025 09:08

You don't owe any man a date, a second date or a second chance.

The only justification you need for ending a relationship is that you're not happier in it than you would be out of it.

YetanotherNC25 · 16/08/2025 11:22

If he wanted to, he would.

I spent too long making excuses to myself for a someone’s lack of actions, contact or poor behaviour. Convinced myself it was because MH was poor, past trauma etc etc etc. Total rubbish. Adults make choices and this helped me to see that I wasn’t one of theirs.

‘He’s just not that into you’ also needs to be in the mix. Not everyone cares as much as you do. Step away and prioritise yourself.

Wow I love these!
