I can't believe i have a date tomorrow and I'm massively overthinking and out of my comfort zone plus I am so out of touch with dating. We are going to a pub for a drink. What shall I drink? I don't like wine. I like beer but is that off putting for a man? God knows what to wear. I am always casual kind so is it ok not to dress up?

It's going to be very warm, so casual and cool seems like a good idea.

Getting all made up while it's 30 in the shade will be uncomfortable.

if you want a beer then have one!

If you want a beer, have one. If he doesn’t like it, he’s not the man for you. Nothing wrong with going casual - I normally go with ‘jeans and a nice top’.

Have a fab time

Be you. If you prefer dressing casually and drinking beer then do exactly that.

I had similar a few years ago. Still dating but I think I've finally found someone, early days though.
I was absolutely petrified on the first date, so much so that I forgot to really look at my date. He turned out to be about 10 years older than was on his profile. It was a learning curve!
Personally I would probably struggle with sitting in a pub, even now, but then I am not good with lots of eye contact with people I dont know. I prefer a walk or something first. Good luck..

Any man who judges what you drink isn’t right for you. Be yourself, drink what you want and dress to be comfortable in the weather. Enjoy!

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 14/08/2025 09:31

Had similar a few months ago,Only had the courage to go because we arranged it on the same day, otherwise would have overthought the clothes etc😀
Definitely go casual so you feel comfortable -for me it would be denim shorts and light top
but ymmv.
And definitely drink what you like (but not too much😀)
If he’s a nice guy he will also be nervous and trying to impress you.
If he is expecting the whole eyeglass/nails/dress-up/cocktails better to weed him out now.
And do report back later 😀😀<nosey>

I'm a man, and no, it wouldn't put me off, and it's not an attitude that I've ever come across from other men.

And if you're usually fairly casual, then go casual. You're looking to find someone who likes the real you, not a fake version. If someone is put off by your dress sense, then better to find that out on the first date rather than later.

It's better to be yourself from the start I think...there's no point in pretending to be someone you're not...you want to see if you're compatible surely so just dress how you want and drink what you want.
