He keeps putting my interests down

My partner said he stopped being a JW 26 years ago. A few years ago he had a tarot reading. He met me and knew I did tarot as a hobby sometimes. He told his mother who was a JW and she was angry.

Ever since then he always has a dig about tarot and fortune tellers. Now I know some people don’t believe in tarot it was a hobby and fun for me. He really annoys me because before he had no qualms doing it but because his mother told him it’s bad he has to keep putting it down.

He is quite clearly still a JW. How is putting down someone’s interest being respectful or kind? I don’t insult his faith.

Jehova Wittness? I don't think they date out of the faith.

He seems to be belittling you and something you enjoy. You could belittle the cult he was in and call him brainwashed but that would just create more tension.

Tell him to knock it off. If he doesn't then you have a decision to make.

Tell him that reading cards is quite a bit less weird than believing in an invisible, supposedly omnipotent deity who requires you to avoid blood transfusions and birthdays, stand around on street corners hawking a magazine and godbothering people who answer the door to you.

He was disfellowshipped years ago but has been back a few times. Yet it was ok for him to have one night stands before he met me and smoke. I though Jehovahs Witnesses were against this behaviour.

He sounds like a knob whatever his religion is.
