Hi. I have recently become a carer for my grandson and was wondering how I get to meet anyone that would be understanding enough to maybe start a relationship. Being in my 50’s and taking on a 1 year old is not going to be everyone’s ideal of a relationship. I’ve looked to see if there is any kind of dating sites for kinship carers but there isn’t. Has anyone been in the same boat.

Could you go to play groups or other places where you might meet someone else who looks after a grandchild. Even if they are just doing it for a day or two week they might have some empathy for your position.

Are you looking for a romantic relationship or just someone in a similar position to you as more of a buddy? Because the romantic relationship doesn’t need to be in the same boat they just need to understand. Some people will be put off by your situation, other people will think you are doing a wonderful thing for your grandchild and those people could be anywhere.
