Making friends advice

I was just trying to look for some advice/ insight for helping my DW.

We have been in the area of MK a couple years now, and making friends for her has been a struggle.

She's friendly and easy going but not having much luck.
Tried at the school drop off- nothing past morning greetings.

She tried the Bumble BFF- people drop off after 5 or so messages.

Joined David Lloyd's- not many open to regular conversation but she tries. Honestly many get weird or standoffish when they ask if she works and she tells them she's a SAHM, she's just being honest, is she supposed to lie? I don't understand why she gets this reaction.

I hate that it's been this difficult for her, I want her to have friends. I really don't know what else to suggest.
Thank you!

Can she join a hobby group, ladies running club, WI, book club or ladies social group? Or get involved in the PTA at your children's school? Maybe post on local Facebook group for other SAHMs who want to meet up for coffee or playdate in a local park?
