How much affection is normal?

My partner and I have been together 4 years and both have daughters of a similar age we don't live together.

Hes really good with both girls . He's a playful person and silly with them both. I don't know why this is even come to my head but I wonder what level of affection or physical contact is appropriate when the child isn't theirs?

I'm maybe over thinking things

I think as long as it’s consensual, completely non-sexual and doesn’t give off an uncomfortable vibe then there should be no limit on affection.

If it’s too much and anybody feels unhappy then it’s too much - not everyone is tactile.

Such as tickling, play fighting. The odd cuddle if comforting. My daughters 6 and a half

It does sound normal when I read it OP, but something is making you feel it’s off. Only you have observed them for long enough to make you wonder. So keep looking. Don’t spiral just yet, but keep an eye.

I didn't grow up with males so it's just knowing what's ok. She dotes on him and I've never thought anything to be odd. I just noticed recently that he is very playful and didn't know if it could be a concern re boundaries

Always pay attention when your instincts start to prickle OP. Something is making you feel uneasy.

My stepdad is just Dad to me, been around since I was around 5. We definitely had a snuggly and playful relationship 🥰 I adored him, he would carry me on his shoulders, take me shopping for clothes because my mam was useless, we would watch movies cuddled up, play horses on the floor. Just a normal dad/daughter relationship. He sounds lovely OP x
