I'm on a few Facebook groups for those with a foreign spouse and it gets discussed quite often.
The general consensus is it's easier but more expensive to do it in the uk and not to bother to do it in their country unless you plan to marry there again.
It depends what country it is as to how much hassle it is though.

I'm in Ireland, ex husband is in UK.

Separated 14 years.

I don't have an address for him.

Do you know if I would have to attend court dates there and can he serve papers on me through the post or does it have to be in person?

Would you mind sharing the Facebook page name with me?

He's quite well off, likely has a huge pension, 3 children, never paid a penny towards them.

The Facebook group is "i love my foreign spouse".
I can't answer the rest and the ones I've seen have no shared assets. They've married African or middle Eastern men and then gone for an online divorce. It complicated it if there's kids and finance's to sort.

Thanks very much.

Had a giggle at the name :)
