FB Dating

I've been told FB Dating is better than some OLD sites by two friends and have recently seen a couple more recommendations online.

I absolutely hate FB and wouldn't want strangers seeing ANYTHING on my ordinary FB profile.
On the upside, my generation are the only ones still using FB. 🤣

So I'm wondering what MNers like / don't about it and whether the dating site really is as separate from the ordinary site as it's supposed to be? eg Can you set up FB-Dating-only account?

I’ve been watching this just because I’d like to know too! Lack of responses seems to indicate that it’s not preferred by the MN crowd….. My instinct tells me that Zuckerberg knows too much about me already and that FB dating might be similar to Marketplace ie where you advertise tat that won’t sell anywhere else 😂

@Bittenonce Kind of why I'm wary of it.

I tried Hinge and Bumble a few years ago, and became very disillusioned. After that, a few weeks on FB dating and I found the most perfect man for me, we are now married, and incredibly happy.

It is separate from Facebook itself, no-one will see your profile unless you share it with them or give them enough information to find you, but do ensure that your profile is as locked down as possible for those who are not your friends.

I met my DH on FB dating 3 years ago. Couldn’t see anyone’s profile (unless you knew name and their security settings allowed it, same as for anyone) and I don’t recall any increase in spam etc, but it’s a while ago!

dating over 3 years?

notapizzaeater · 09/07/2025 18:54

You can’t see your Facebook profile so can’t check them out

In my area fb daring is proper bottom of the barrel stuff. My working theory is it is extremely easy to set up if you already have a fb account. Literally a few clicks. Therefore it attracts the lazy, feckless, and those looking for a quick bit of action on the side.

Stick to Hinge or Bumble. They seem the only decent ones remaining!

I'm not sure what you mean?

It just depends who's on them.

Bumble was the best I found and met himself on it !

Yeah, I was in a relationship for over 3 years. It had its ups and downs, but eventually we just grew apart. After the breakup, I wasn’t looking for anything serious, just wanted to have fun and meet new people

No experience of it personally but my neighbours met on FB dating and they just got married.

They did live quite far apart though when they met, one of them had to relocate.
