Im going to try to keep this short but bare with because it’s a tricky thing to recap

We cut ties with my husbands father over a year ago, it was a long time coming, not a decision we made lightly but was absolutely essential for our family’s health and wellbeing

Husbands mother still pops in occasionally probs once a month to see kids etc. they are together so this is obviously very awkward but she was quite adamant she wanted to be in our lives and had done no wrong so we gave it a chance.

now for my question - really need advice here - she always signs bday and Xmas cards from both Nana and grandad.. my eldest will be starting school soon and therefore learning to read, so do I ask her to stop signing his name or do i prepare myself for the day my son inevitably asks about this mystery grandad and how to tell him in an age appropriate manner?
Or am I overthinking this whole thing 😂
I just don’t want to be put on the spot and say the wrong thing
Thanks so much if you got this far !!

FGS OP

no you don’t ask your mother not to sign his name

as if your son will give a toss. And even if he does “oh that’s granny’s husband, we don’t have much to do with him, anyway cake time!”

why go actively looking for drama Op

Thanks so much Gingerbis that’s really helpful! Nice to have an outside opinion when you don’t have much family support
